Ana Maria Gaspar Marques – President of the Parish Council of Avenidas Novas

“Recently, I wrote an article where I stated that Avenidas Novas is Lisbon’s boulevard. Due to its layout, reminiscent of what we find in Paris, its good accessibility, the meeting point of very distinct social layers, and the charm and magic of ‘feeling good’ among our neighbors, our families, the tourists, and the visitors who arrive at the formidable complex of cultural facilities we have to offer. Cinemas, theaters, museums, the Gulbenkian Foundation… But also the traditional spaces, historic shops, street markets that bring generations together and value artisans, and the renovated buildings that preserve their history and blend it with contemporary features.

As is the case with our neighbors – Luzeiros Suites, whose result I find very pleasing. A modern space that proves it is possible to achieve comfort while preserving some features of its past. Elements such as the elevator, the staircase, the hall, the light fixtures, and even the ashtrays were preserved, thus maintaining the essence. I must admit, it was emotional to walk into Luzeiros Suites, because it was so respectfully restored that it’s impossible not to recall the space as it once was, stirring a certain nostalgia.

The parish of Avenidas Novas, in addition to gaining a hotel space, has also gained a shared space – Luzeiros Caffé. An excellent meeting place for both locals and tourists.

These two spaces align somewhat with our commitment: to get to know and energize the Avenidas in a structured, conscious, and sensible way.”
